Home Parties from The Heart

Home Parties from The Heart

Amelia Earhart once said, “the more one does, sees, and feels… the more genuine may be one’s appreciation of fundamental things like home, love, and understanding companionship,” and we couldn’t agree more! Here at Beaded Treasures Project we stand firm in our belief that those three fundamental things - home, love, and companionship - are just a few of the gifts of life that everyone deserves. Providing opportunities to bring prosperous growth into the homes of refugee women who are new to our community, showing our support for their creative endeavors, and helping them to make connections to last a lifetime are all apart of our happy mission. With that being said, it is our loyal volunteers who open the doors to their homes for us that we cherish very dearly and want to give a big shout-out of gratitude to for hosting our artisans and giving them an opportunity to reveal their hard work over the years!

It isn’t everyday that the chance to spend quality time with women of all different backgrounds and cultures arises, especially right at your doorstep; but home parties allow you to do just that. Susan Srouji hosted a home party with us last year and had to say this about her experience:

“The women who came to my house exuded excitement for the opportunity to share what they had created and also learn from us. I enjoyed meeting the ladies who made the jewelry and my friends loved shopping for fun pieces as well as unique textiles that you can’t find in stores. To be able to open your home for such a great cause is a gift. All of the people involved in the Beaded Treasures Project have a very noble vision.” - Susan Srouji

Our vision can easily be your vision too; when you host a home party you make an impact not only in the lives of others, but also in yourself. Like Amelia Earhart said, the more you do and see and feel, the more genuine your appreciation of life becomes. We strive for our home parties to be a worldly experience - mingling with women of different languages, struggles, and stories is humbling for all. We know that life gets busy sometimes and it can be hard to find moments to relax or go shopping for some ‘treat yourself’ time, and that’s why we believe home parties are the perfect mix of service for others and quality time for yourself and your friends or family. The best part is - you don’t have to worry about a thing! We want to make home parties enjoyable for everyone involved and so we always have a great team that is there for all of what is needed to get setup and breakdown.

Nancy Gillespie hosted a home party a few months back and she told us here at BTP that “the variety and quality of the handmade items was incredible,” and she, “knows that all of [her] friends enjoyed seeing the merchandise and meeting the artists [who made the pieces].” It truly is something special to gather around for a good cause while having a great time with friends or family. We are so thankful for our home party hosts and we hope that you would join us in our mission and pursuit of supportive community events, too.

If you are interested in hosting a home party you can contact us by email or phone. We would love to hear from you and answer any questions you may have. And a big thanks (once again!) to all of our former hosts and hostesses! Because of you, our mission is made possible.
